Determined:
Having received a meme recently that read: early to bed and
early to rise makes one healthy, wealthy and wise. I declare; complete
bullshit, unless you have an exceptionally short life expectancy that advice
is, in current society application, utter bollocks. Nothing pleasant ever
happens at dawn, except for that picturesque sunrise trademarked by Disney for
the Lion King, I've watched enough nature documentaries to know the early bird
gets the worm then something eats him in a single chop. Understandably some
passionate pokies function as the essential operating system required to power
daily living in the conventional convenience, I am not one of those people. My
biological chemistry functions autonomic ally to the nature flow of the
universe - free and independent of technology. Society however cannot function
without controlling infrastructure because people are mindless drones addicted
to be told to do everything rather than thinking for themselves. My on-going personal battle with intruding technology
has depression fallout and social solitude. My journey to free myself from
social media has been cathartic. Dumping all those profiles in the recycle bin
was liberating and difficult as I'm not entirely free from digital dependence.
The algorithms still hound me because I remain online. Their digital cult
constantly reaching for me via mail, through MLM promotion on streaming service
and every touch on my smart device. We cannot be entirely free unless we unplug
the machine, go off grid and wait for conflict. My cynical counterpart believes
life cannot exist without conflict and the concept of peace and freedom are
held at the end of the rainbows we chase. Balance, the universal force hath
forsaken us. Technological disruption of thought, sleep and motivation become
the tiny post it notes staring at you in mockery. Machines don't acknowledge
the individual. We believe in the illusion and we all grow to hate it.
Time to reflect:
News is not worth the attention it receives, who cares what
the idiot factory is doing but since it’s been a while since the fairies posted
anything other than dead squirrels in a courier package we let them loose and
they found Carte Blanche…
Ironically the world gets worse during the festive season; millennials
need to read those Christmas cards about peace, love and goodwill to all then
ask Google to translate those big words so they can post a video of themselves
complaining about uninteresting nonsense. Daily life inside the Matrix goes on
but our journey continues to reverse. Shortly after Christmas I spent an
evening in reflection with a long-time friend discussing the New Year to which their
comment was: ‘I miss the 2000s.’
That brief time before Facebook, smart phones, #opinions and
@chats, when people spoke to each other in real time and whatever else Sandi
Thom sings about in her song. Oh how I too wish to be a punkrocker with flowers
in my hair but we cannot travel back in time, physically at least; we can
always cosplay. Master Hex has an estate worthy of museum exhibition; he owns a
lot of really, really, really, like really old junk for those in our millennial
audience. So we’ve given up on the current, humanity is completely fucked so we’re
heading to the pub for a cold pint where we can wait for it all to blow over –
thanks you millennial assholes…
It’s going to be an angry year. Whether or not we choice to
explore global social intolerance seems irrelevant, who wants to read the rants
of angry fairies bordering on homicidal rage for the entire human race?
We pitched the idea to Disney; they totally loved it and
really want to make HVCU debut by like mythical creatures are considered
imaginary so like a LGBTQ transition would only make the fairies super
transparent…
The HaasVoel Cinematic Universe; maybe we’ll buy Disney and
re-brand it.
Before we go: Read books, practice safe consensual sex with
partners or alone, log off social media and go outside to enjoy the sunshine
and fresh air.
